What sort of work is involved?
There are two main areas in which accounts work is undertaken - either in specific accountancy practices or in company's accounts departments. General duties are the same for both areas, covering sales and purchase ledgers, spreadsheets, administration and inputting data, however those working in accountancy practices are also required to prepare accounts and visit clients premises to undertake audits.
What sort of training is involved?
A flexible approach to training is offered with either day release, afternoon or evening tuition available in order to achieve AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 4. Achievement of the NVQ is via time constrained exams, workplace evidence and assessments with the Key Skills covering Communication (COMM), and Application of Number (AON) if required.
Apprenticeships require AON level 1 and Comm level 2; Advanced Apprenticeships require AON level 2 and Comm level 2.
