Who should do this course?

This University of Bolton qualification is aimed at anyone who wishes to embark on teaching or assisting teachers. The course focuses on practical and theoretical issues involved in planning and preparing to teach and involves planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating a micro-teaching session

What will I do on the course?

  • professional values and practice, Own role and responsibilities, statutory requirements and codes of conduct, health and safety, organisational systems and processes for recording learner information
  • planning and implementing teaching and learning, equality and diversity, meeting needs of learners through creation of an inclusive learning environment, current developments in own specialist area, planning a teaching session, preparing resources, effective communication, listening and questioning techniques, supporting learners, learner behaviour and values, evaluation of own practice
  • assessment of learning, assessment as a tool for learning and progression, using feedback, assessment records, requirements of specific learning programmes and awarding bodies

Introduction to Teaching and Learning (part 1).

How long will it take?

The programme is delivered in a 3-hour session once a week for a maximum of ten weeks.
