What sort of work is involved?

ITQ (Using IT) - Today most business environments require employees to use IT applications. An IT user is not necessarily a job title but a skill that most employers would like their employees to have. Therefore an ITQ Apprentice could work in a variety of roles including an office support administrator, marketing administrator, HR administrator, secretary, project support officer, database analyst, management information systems officer or web designer.

IT Professionals- Virtually every business has an IT function that it regards as critical to its every day delivery of products and services.  Due to the diverse use of Information Technology in the workplace an IT Practitioners or Professional Apprentice can be employed in a wide variety of job roles including, desk top support, IT Technician, network administrator or IT Engineer.

What sort of work is involved?

ITQ (Using IT) - Am IT User Apprenticeship involves among other things working daily with IT applications. The content of the Apprenticeship will depend on the job role but can involve word processing, spreadsheets, databses, email and web designing.

IT Professionals - The content of the Apprenticeship will depend on the activitiesd and responsibilities of the role, but can involve hardware maintenance, technical fault diagnosis, providing technical advice and guidance, installations, system operation and security.

Delivery

The appropriate NVQ is completed in the workplace. Each learner is allocated an assessor who will assess them on the job using real work examples. An initial assessment is completed with each learner against the role to identify the most relevant learner profile of NVQ units.

The Technical Certificate is the off the job element of the Apprenticeship Framework and runs alongside the NVQ. The training consists of workshops delivered at Skills Solutions and are designed to provide the underpining knowledge and understanding required for the role.
