Motor Vehicle Apprenticeships

What sort of work is involved?

Motor Vehicle occupations are split up into 6 areas. Mechanical (Light Vehicle and Heavy Vehicle), Body Repair, Paint Sprayer, Vehicle Selling, Vehicle Parts and Auto Electrics. Each area is very different from the other.

As a mechanic you would be involved in servicing cars, changing tyres and exhausts, major engine work and diagnosing faults. Body Repairers repair cars after they have been involved in accidents i.e. replacing body panels, knocking out dents and realigning the chassis. As a paint sprayer you would be involved in matching and applying colours to new vehicle panels or the whole vehicle. Vehicle selling involves selling new and used vehicles to the general public. In Vehicle Parts you would be selling parts to main car dealerships, garages, bodyshops or specialist car maintenance shops. As an auto electrician you would be involved in wiring, diagnosing and repairing faults to the vehicles electrical system.

Apprentices will get to develop their skills at our state-of-the-art SkillsCentre in Trafford park, combining the latest training and learning with practical on the job work experience.
